Director's  Benefits

HILCO provides to each director:

• Monthly retainer fee of $600 per director

• Monthly board meeting fee -- additional $600 per director.

• Per diem allowed for unlimited HILCO committee meetings and/or training is $410, which includes $300 director fee, $100 meals, and $10 for incidental expenses

• 24 hour accident coverage with a $25,000 limit for each director

• $25 monthly internet fee

• Unlimited travel reimbursement for directors' spouses

• Up to $8,400 in annual Christmas bonuses to directors

• Standard IRS mileage rate reimbursement

• Free fax machines

• Discount on propane

• $250 annual clothing allowance to directors

• 100% reimbursement for all commercial transportation costs, all hotel costs, all training fees

It is important for the members to understand that the benefits given to the directors are done so by the directors themselves, without oversight of anyone.  Several District Directors (1,3,4) have attempted to protect the Cooperative and have voiced concern over many of the actions of the four directors who are subject to the recall petition.  Three Directors, Sawyer, McPherson, and Cross argued against the higher budgets. The Board President has had several discussions with the four and has even consulted with the corporate attorney on policy violations by some of them.  Apparently, these four feel they are beyond the control of their fellow board members and are not accountable to anyone, including you - the membership.  Without your direct involvement in this recall, the four will do whatever they want to do with you money, your equity, and your Co-op.
